Retail Sales Workers
Job Summary
Retail Sales Workers are responsible for speaking to customers about store products, explaining how they work and their benefits, and assisting them with their purchases. They may also process customer purchases or other transactions. They may also be responsible for maintaining the shelf stock of merchandise, packaging and pricing products and maintaining their display. Retail Sales Workers must be alert to recognize theft and know the company procedures for dealing with such incidents.
Duties
Retail Sales Workers generally carry out the following duties:

Assist customers with browsing and purchasing merchandise

Be able to communicate to customers about information surrounding particular products

Process customer transactions

Inform customers on store sales, specials and coupons

Explain store policies about payments and returns
Qualifications
No formal education is required for this job role. In cases where the merchandise may be technical such as electronics and cars, some employers require at least a high school diploma.
Testing
In order to test Retail Sales Workers effectively, employers usually administer the Sales Personality test to assess the individual’s personality traits that will determine if they perform well in sales. The Customer Service Personality Test can also be used to evaluate how the individual may deal with customers. Lastly, the work ethics personality test which would be used to assess an individuals' readiness to work and ethical code of conduct.
