Medical Assistants
Job Summary
Medical Assistants can perform their tasks in Administrative and Clinical roles. Those in administrative roles fill out insurance forms, file reports and sat appointments. Clinical assistants carry out basic lab work, dispose of contaminated or used equipment and sterilize medical instruments. They may also prepare patients for x-rays, draw blood, remove stitches, change dressings and advise patients on the taking of medication and dietary options.
Duties
Medical Assistants generally carry out the following duties:

Make records of patient medical history and personal information

Check patient vital signs

Assist physician with examination of patients

Under the direction of a physician and as permitted by law, give patient injections or medication

Set up appointments

Prepare blood samples for lab analysis

Log patient information into medical records
Qualifications
There are no formal requirements for this job role. Employers however, may prefer to hire persons with a post secondary degree in the field. In some cases, a high school diploma may be accepted and on the job training will be offered.
Testing
In order to test Medical Assistants effectively, employers usually administer the quickbooks test, the cognitive IQ test, Microsoft office and work ethics test. This combination of tests assesses individual's problem solving skills, proficiency in Quickbooks , Microsoft Office software and standard code of ethics.
