Graphic designers generate the visuals which are suited for conveying a message effectively through the use of computer software. They are usually involved in the advertising department of organizations where they choose the layouts and designs for various forms of promotional material including web sites and pages.
Graphic designers generally carry out the following duties:
Meet with clients to discuss the desired specifications and content to be incorporated into the advertising media.
Choose the images, layouts and type of text best suited for conveying the intended message effectively to inspire and capture attention.
Present designs to clients and make any suggested adjustments
A bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field is usually required. A portfolio of the individual’s work may also be required to indicate their level of creativity and originality.
In order to test Graphic designers effectively, employers usually administer the IQ Cognitive test which evaluates the individual’s ability to learn in a rapidly evolving technological era, their analytical skills and ability to critically think. Also needed is the eye test and the work ethics test to ensure an applicants visual acuity and health and their readiness to work.
