Bank Tellers

Job Summary

Bank tellers are responsible for handling and processing customer transactions. Bank tellers must have a keen eye for detail especially when counting customer money, checking for counterfeit money, and ensuring the valid identity of customers. They are required to pay attention to customer accounts when conducting transactions to notify them of any problems or issues. Bank tellers are generally required to have a clean, professional demeanor, communicate with customers patiently and cordially.


Bank tellers generally carry out the following duties:

  • Receive various types of payments from customers such as cash or checks

  • Answer customer queries in relation to their accounts

  • Make conversions from one currency to another

  • Order bank cards and checks for customers

  • Make electronic records of all transactions

  • Count money in the drawer before and after the shift, ensuring that it balances.



For Bank tellers, a high school diploma or equivalent is usually required by employers.


In order to test Bank tellers effectively, employers usually administer the Cognitive IQ test and Maths Business test to determine their analytical skills and critical thinking.
