Managing, analyzing and recording finances accurately means that Accountants and Auditors are required to be efficient at mathematics, work with numbers every day, be able to solve problems quickly and exercise critical thinking.
Accountants and Auditors generally perform the following duties:
Ensure that financial records are accurate and are compliant with the law.
Analyze account books to make sure that the methods used are legal and the most efficient.
Make recommendations to leaders regarding best practices for the organization to reduce expenditure and increase profits.
Qualifications for Accountants and Auditors vary but generally include a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. Some employers prefer a master’s degree in Accounting or Business Management with a focus on accounting. An individual can obtain the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification once they have achieved at least 150 hours or coursework from an accredited University, a certain number of accounting and business courses and a bachelor’s degree.
In order to test Accountants and Auditors effectively, employers usually administer the Cognitive test which measures the general intelligence of individuals by assessing individual's problem solving skills, ability to analyze, apply information and critically think. The Math Business test can also be administered to analyze the general math skills and reasoning ability of the recipient. And lastly, the work ethics personality test which measures the standard code of ethics of individuals.
