USC Radio Group (KUSC/KDFC)

The USC Radio Group is seeking a Web Developer. Are you passionate about music and its power to strengthen communities? Are you excited about the opportunities facing us as we develop new services and engage new audiences with new platforms?

The USC Radio Group has 11 FM stations and a robust digital presence in Southern California and the Bay area, providing the only classical music service for 1.3 million weekly listeners via KUSC and KDFC. KUSC is the largest and most listened to classical station in the country and is located in downtown Los Angeles. KDFC is located in the SOMA district of San Francisco. The stations are licensed to the University of Southern California (USC), one of the leading research universities in the nation with an admirable commitment to classical music and the arts.

With years of success behind us, we are ambitious about our future and are searching for an individual who can help us with new and existing digital initiatives.


Job Summary:

The Web Developer (WD) is a committed team member who can work collaboratively or on self-directed projects to maintain and develop digital products (website, apps, social media, streams, etc) for USC Radio Group while working from KUSC.

WD will report to KUSC’s Assistant Program Director as part of a newly designed “digital hub,” championing the public service mission and collaborating on digital content projects to enable the USC Radio Group to grow and fulfill that mission.

S/he is on top of the leading technologies and best practices, and has a firm understanding of the digital, music-listening landscape.

The WD is responsible for website development and improvement, digital sponsorship development, website analysis, promotional content strategy and analysis.


Job Responsibilities:

  • website development and improvement for KUSC.org and KDFC.com (including creating and updating pages/blogs/audio streams/on demand content, bug fixes and determining necessary improvements)

  • fulfillment of digital advertising agreements and weekly reports detailing proof of performance

  • monthly/annual reports on general website trends and status

  • content creation and analysis for social media platforms (namely Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)



Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined work experience and education as equivalent
Minimum Experience: 4 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Understanding and strong technical knowledge of and experience with object oriented design; Web servers; Web applications and programming languages; Web content Leads the design, development and implementation of front-end and back-end software for Web sites.management systems, search engine optimization, and usability engineering.
